[转贴] Facebook, GasLog Lead 4 Top-Rated Recent IPOs

本帖最后由 aimei 于 2014-7-23 09:12 编辑

Facebook is one of the best-known companies in the world — and also one of the youngest.

Young companies often grow faster than their more mature counterparts, just like people. Today's Screen Of The Day is Young Guns, top-rated companies that have gone public in the last 15 years.

Today's screen includes Facebook (NASDAQ:FB) and three others that launched their IPOs within the last 27 months. Here they are:

Facebook tops the Young Guns screen and the five-youngest list as well. Following a stumble out of the gate in May 2012, shares of the world's largest social network turned up early in June 2013. It's been a steady performer since, with its stock climbing 206% in a little more than a year as advertisers scramble to get on board.

In April, Facebook introduced a feature that lets a user log in anonymously to try out new apps. Facebook can use it to leverage recent acquisitions such as photo-sharing app Instagram and WhatsApp, a cross-platform messaging service. Shares edged down fractionally on the stock market Tuesday.

Facebook will report earnings after Wednesday's market close, with Wall Street expecting a 68% year-over-year gain.

GasLog (NYSE:GLOG) is No. 2 on the Young Guns list. GasLog owns and operates a fleet of liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers. It couldn't be much better positioned. Using new technologies such as hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the U.S. has jumped to the head of the line as the world's largest natural gas producer.

Natural gas must be liquefied to be shipped around the globe, where it's heated to a gas state for use in stoves, heaters, power plants and other applications. GasLog, which is also on the IBD 50 list of top-rated stocks, is a leader in transporting LNG. Shares rose 1% Tuesday.

Semiconductor maker Ambarella (NASDAQ:AMBA) makes high-definition video system-on-a-chip devices used in cameras, primarily for the security and surveillance market. It's also seeing sales rise as it sells its HD cameras to makers of wearable cameras, which are increasingly popular with bicyclists and motorists, law enforcement and sports enthusiasts like surfers, including cameras by GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO). GoPro had a successful IPO in late June.

Ambarella went public 21 months ago at 6 per share. It closed Tuesday up 1.2% at 29.95, a 399% increase from its launch.

Emerge Energy Services (NYSE:EMES), like GasLog, is in the energy segment. It too has a specialty — mining and refining the sand used to break up shale and free oil in the fracking process. It went public at 17 on May 10, 2013. In the ensuing 14 months, its stock price has climbed an astounding 565% to a 113 close Tuesday, up 3% for the day.
AMBA似乎有些特别。。。这篇文章蛮好的。
