What? Even a winter storm would damage more than this. What are they trying to do?

I think in terms of the magnitude this is not even close to an winter storm. Many damages are artificial - unprepared for many years.

What? 8 million homes and businesses lack electricity?  How could they lack electricity after the storm? Not during the storm?

That is called selective reporting.

Any storm would have caused that if the places are shabby. Poor economy, poor leadership led to this. How can you blame the nature?

我经历去年　今年二场风暴。
去年没有准备充分，加上冰雨，　树枝不堪重负（树叶没有掉下）　慢慢地倒下。家家门口都有倒下的树枝。凉亭被压塌。风暴过了，　大树还是不断的倒下
今年大树都是连根倒下，　风力大，今年少水，　树叶也掉的早。
风暴走了，大树不再倒了　但是停电比去年多很多。今年准备充分，　但是风暴威力不是准备能解就的。

ＮＪ　》５０％　人家没有电。
重要大道　没有交通灯。　今晚 封路了

晚上只有工人在加班加点的锯树，　清路，　非常辛苦
